St. Joseph Hospital (SJH) surpassed the $10 million mark in the hospital’s capital campaign for the new medical facility during its recent dinner/auction and golf tournament fundraiser.
The SJH Foundation’s annual Golf Classic dinner/auction, the hospital’s biggest fundraiser, was held at Baywood Golf & Country Club on Thursday, June 25, and the golf tournament was held on June 26. The two-day event raised more than $111,000, pushing the hospital’s capital campaign over $10 million. All funds raised during the event benefit the Northeast Tower at St. Joseph Hospital.
"It is really exciting to crest the capital campaign’s $10 million mark, especially during our biggest fundraiser of the year," said Dale Maples, golf tournament committee chairperson.
Added Joe Mark, CEO of St. Joseph Health – Humboldt County, "Reaching $10 million is an unbelievable accomplishment. We are genuinely grateful to the many community members who have supported this project, and look forward to reaching our big goal of $12.5 million and beyond."
Scheduled for completion in early 2011, the new patient tower at St. Joseph Hospital will bring the hospital up to 2013 state seismic code. The project, which is part of a state-wide unfunded seismic mandate, is estimated to cost $127 million and will feature an expanded Emergency Department with 20 treatment bays; Emergency Department Imaging with CT scan, radiology and ultrasound; new reception and waiting area for patients and visitors; surgical suite with eight operating rooms and a catheterization lab; 12 beds in the Intensive Care Unit and 40 patient care beds.
St. Joseph Health, based in Orange, Calif., will match every dollar St. Joseph Hospital raises up to $12.5 million, meaning every dollar raised at the recent golf tournament fundraiser was automatically doubled.
