Terri Mitchell, RN, has just joined St. Joseph Hospital as the manager of the intensive care unit (ICU) and respiratory therapy department. Mitchell has extensive experience as an intensive care RN, specializing in post-operative cardiac surgery. Her management and administrative experiences include nurse manager positions in intensive care units.
Mitchell has been involved in the design and construction of an outpatient dialysis clinic, where she focused on creating a healing healthcare environment for patients. As a former public health supervisor, she directed the operations of immunization programs and women's and children's (WIC) clinics. Her experience also includes implementing a computerized documentation system, redesigning policy and procedure manuals and developing patient handbooks.
As St. Joseph Hospital gets closer to moving patients into its new addition, Mitchell says she hopes to use her skills and experience to help accomplish a smooth transition for both patients and staff. "Creating the right environment allows patients to focus on healing and allows staff to do their best, resulting in high quality healthcare."
Mitchell has more than 30 years of healthcare experience. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan. She comes most recently from Redding.
