St. Joseph Health – Humboldt County is pleased to announce Matthew Miller, MD has been chosen as its new Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Miller has more than 20 years of clinical knowledge and experience.
In his new role, Dr. Miller will oversee medical services at St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial Hospitals. He will also play a crucial role in working with hospital leadership and physicians to continue our mission of providing the highest quality health care possible for our patients and our community.
Dr. Miller has been a part of the local medical community for many years. From 1992 to 2008, he had a traditional internal medicine practice in Eureka. In 2008, Dr. Miller became a full-time hospitalist at St. Joseph Hospital. Over the years he has also held other roles including patient safety officer, infection control chairman, chief of medicine, vice chief of staff and most recently was the interim CMO for St. Joseph and Redwood Memorial Hospitals.
“I am very excited to be able to continue in the role of Chief Medical Officer,” said Dr. Miller. Additionally, he said he looks forward to working with hospital staff and physicians to ensure we provide safe, high quality patient-centered care. “Our mission of delivering perfect care to our patients doesn’t stop at the end of a work shift. It is a continuous process that happens every hour of every day.”
Dr. Miller received his bachelor’s degree from U.C. Berkeley and his medical degree from U.S.C. School of Medicine.
