Fortuna’s River Lodge was decked in pink and black on Saturday, Nov. 7 for the 28th annual Benefit Ball, an event that raised $110,000 for Redwood Memorial Hospital this year. The 50s rock-n-roll theme was a hit with guests, many of whom showed up in poodle skirts and polka dots, black leather jackets and letterman jackets.
About 250 event goers bid on silent and live auction items, and purchased raffle tickets in support of Redwood Memorial Hospital. All proceeds from the event will go toward new patient ventilators for the hospital.
Before kicking off the live auction, CEO Joe Mark honored event chairperson Gwynna Morris for her tireless efforts organizing the ball and for her many contributions to the Redwood Memorial Foundation and Redwood Memorial Hospital. He then joined Board of Trustees chairman Dennis Leonardi and hospital Chief Operating Officer Joe Rogers in thanking the community for their support of the hospital.
“We are incredibly grateful to the community members and organizations that support Redwood Memorial Hospital,” Mark said. “Their generosity enables us to continue providing vital health care services to all community residents.”
Over the years, Benefit Ball proceeds have been used to purchase new medical equipment for the hospital, including a Fetal Monitoring System, 4-D Ultrasound, Digital Mobile Imaging System, and operating room video equipment. Last year’s Benefit Ball proceeds benefited RMH’s new 32-slice CT unit, which is currently being installed.
